Africa's Future

The state education system in Ghana charges children a fee to attend, which means that for the very poorest families obtaining an education for their children simply isn't possible.

The Lady Heike Nursery, in Akatektya, near Cape Coast in Ghana, has been built and is run with the support of Africa's Future.

It provides around 60 children between the ages of 4-6 with a free education and a healthy meal. Staffed by Ghanaian teachers as well as volunteers from around the world, the nursery aims to teach the children basic literacy and numeracy, to give them the skills they need to build a better future for themselves.

It costs the charity a little over £6 per month to feed and educate a child, so even the smallest donation can make a huge difference.
